Experience The Southern Charm Of Charleston, SC!
Posted on March 2, 2025 by Lasonja
I’m a southern girl and during my last trip to Charleston, South Carolina, I must say the city did not disappoint. Charleston’s sights and sounds are sure to have you coming back again and again. It’s full of history and culture and it offers many activities for all age groups, so I was excited to take my kids down for a day trip.
Our itinerary included stops at U.S.S. Yorktown, Rainbow Row, the Pineapple Fountain, Charleston City Market, and lunch at the famous Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ Restaurant.
I’m an Air Force Vet, however, my last deployment was with the U.S. Navy, so I was excited to explore U.S.S. Yorktown with my kids. Our self-guided tour lasted about an hour with a stop at the gift shop prior to our departure.
The next stop was to the historic Charleston City Market. In the market we purchased spices, artwork, and wine. Afterwards, we ventured out on a walk to find the famous Pineapple Fountain.
After our visit at The Pineapple Fountain, we set out to find all the Rainbow Row houses. These houses are so colorful and full of history.
Before heading back home we visited the famous Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ Restaurant which has been a I’m a southern girl and during my last trip to Charleston staple since 2017. We even got a chance to meet the owner. While most southern coastal cities are known for their seafood and soul food; this BBQ did not disappoint. Everyone ordered something different, but my favorite was the BBQ ribs.
I’m looking forward to returning so we can visit Fort Sumter and The Angel Oak Tree. The Angel Oak Tree is considered to be the largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi estimating to be 300 to 400 years old.
If you are traveling to or through the state of South Carolina, you absolutely must stop in Charleston. I recommend adding it to your bucket list today. Trust me you won’t find many other cities that offer as much charm as this one.
