How To Workout For Free

I don’t know about you all but the holidays have been a bit unkind to my waistline.  All those Christmas cookies, candies, potatoes, ALL THE CARBS…I gained another 5 pounds just typing that! Luckily, it’s January, the start of new beginnings! I know many of you like myself don’t always have the option to go to the gym as most are closed and we are home with the kids navigating this new normal.

And while I don’t have any magical cheap pill to help I do have some great FREE, yes you read that right …FREE and inexpensive ways to get back into shape. I can stand behind them too because I have tried each and every one of these, so I give them all the official Kate stamp of approval 😉  And I promise no boring repeat exercise videos here!! The best part you don’t have to leave the comforts of your living room if you don’t want to!

Keelo

This is a free app you can download to your phone, that I recently downloaded onto my phone.  It gives short challenges that you can do in a certain amount of time. Its great because it shows you each move while it counts each set and keeps time. I love to do this when I am short on time but I want a bit of a challenge, I always try to beat my previous time. This is definitely one app you will want to add! Check out Keelo here.

Yes, I even find workouts on social media! I actually follow a few great people who post some short circuit workouts on a weekly basis and I love them! I love Redefining Strength, as well as Emily SkyeMegan Ewoldnsen, Dance Fitness with Jessica and Jillian Michaels. I follow them all on Facebook, because they are fun and inspiring to watch.  It  also keeps my newsfeed filled with people working out and staying in shape,  helps keep me motivated!

Youtube

Not seeing anything that gets your heart pumping?  You can find any type of workout on youtube… just type in what  type of  workout you are in the mood for and voila! This is how i discovered Fitness Blender,  PopSugar Fitness and Yoga with Adriene!

Equipment

Now many of you might be thinking ” But I don’t have weights or equipment!!!” Luckily,  many of these above do not require weights of any kind, just using plain old body weight(which is very effective in itself). However, if you wanted to add some weights be creative, use old  water bottles, fill with water, sand or rice, depending on how heavy you want them. Or just use plain old cans from your pantry.

Another  thing you can grab from your pantry…paper plates for a great total body workout.  To check out one example of a paper plate workout click here.
