There is sure to be something that everyone will enjoy on this month’s book list! We’ve got some magical, some spooky, and even a little cozy. So, grab your favorite blanket and a warm drink and choose one of these magical books to get you ready for the season!
- The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches: A Cozy Romance by Sangu Mandanna
- In this very cozy novel, Mika Moon, an isolated witch, receives a message begging her to travel to a remote house to teach three young witches how to control their magic. As Mika becomes a part of the Nowhere House family, she is forced to risk it all when trouble comes knocking! This is such a delightful book with a very entertaining cast of characters!
- A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna
- Sera Swan used to be one of the most powerful witches in Britain, but she has recently resurrected her great-aunt Jasmine from the dead, was exiled from the Guild, befriended a talking fox, and lost most of her magic. What is a witch to do? She reluctantly begins to manage an enchanted inn with Jasmine. She then hears of an old spell that may help her return her magic, as if Sera doesn’t have enough going on! This is where swoon worthy Luke Larsen comes in, and he may be just the ticket to restore Sera’s lost magic.
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
- In this cozy Hallmark-esque rom-com, we join Kiela the librarian and her spunky houseplant turned assistant, Caz. These two are forced on an unlikely journey after a revolution begins and quiet bookish Kiela will have to tear down her own walls and break a few laws to help the townsfolk of her hometown.
- The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst
- In book #2 of 3 in The Spellshop Series, we’re back with another cozy cottage story! We have talking plants, honey cakes, and romance…Oh My! In this story, we meet Terlu Perna who broke the law for creating a magical sentient house plant. Terlu was then punished for her magical creation by being forced to become a wooden statue. One day, she awakens cold, almost naked, and surrounded by hundreds of greenhouse on what appears to be an almost deserted island. It is here that she is taken in by the grumpy gardener. Terlu comes to realize that the beautiful greenhouses are slowly dying off because of failing magic. She must face the difficult decision to save herself of break the law again to help the plants and the island that she begins to feel is her home! The beauty of this book is that it’s a standalone novel so you don’t necessarily have to read The Spellshop.
- Sea of Charms by Sarah Beth Durst
- Although this book doesn’t release until July 2026, I wanted to put it on your radar if you like a good cozy vibe. This is the third and final installment of The Spellshop trilogy. In this tale, we follow Marin as she runs away from a bad relationship by sailing across the seas. Marin becomes a runner and delivers goods from island to island. On one of her routine runs, she meets Dax, a composer, who is fleeing the city with his instruments because of the revolution. Dax and Marin strike up a deal where he agrees to pose as her boyfriend if she lets him be a part of her crew. It’s this deal that leads Marin to see that maybe what Dax and her need is ultimately…each other!
- The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
- In Book One of the Graves Glen series, Vivienne Jones attempted to heal her broken heart like any young witch should. She drank, listened to sappy music, and drowned her sorrows in a bubble baths. Oh and she may have also thrown in a curse on her ex, Rhys Penhallow. It isn’t until Rhys returns to Graves Glen to charge the towns’ ley lines, Vivi sees that her small curse may not be so small after all. The curse then begins to attack the town. Vivi and Rhys are forced to work together to save the town they both hold dear. If this books sounds like something you would enjoy I highly recommend Book 2, The Kiss Curse and Book 3, The Wedding Witch.
The only thing scary about these books is how hard they are to put down! These cozy stories will have you ready for both fall and Halloween!
