This month we had the pleasure of getting to know Anne Karine Quinn! We got to hear all about her newest series and I have even had the pleasure of reading it myself! At this point my TBR pile is taller than I am! So buckle up and get ready to hear about the hottest new trilogy!

What branch of the military are you affiliated with?
- Navy
How long have you been a military spouse?
- My husband served in the US Navy for seven years and nine months, and we were married days before his departure to basic training. So, I had been a military spouse for the duration of his service.
- My father served in the US Navy for over 20 years, a combination of active duty and reserve service. By the time I was born, he was already in the reserves.
What is your favorite part about being in a military family?
- There is an automatic sense of understanding and camaraderie that happens with military service. It provides an opening for conversation about similar experiences.
What would you say is your biggest challenge being in a military family?
- My biggest challenge was the uncertainty of the PCS transfers. On two occurrences, we thought we were moving to one base, only to be told that we were misinformed and that we were actually moving somewhere else. For example, we were told that we were moving to San Diego, CA only to be corrected a week later that in fact we were headed to Newport News, VA.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with our current military families?
It can be very lonely as a military family, whether it’s being stationed far away from family or trying to live your daily life while your spouse is deployed. I implore military families to build an emotional support system somehow. Whether it is friends online, book clubs, play dates, participating in a community will enrich your lives in ways you never expect.

How or why did you decide to become an author?
I had been writing since I was thirteen years old, mostly as a hobby. But over time, I realized how much fun I had crafting stories and posting them on the internet. After fifteen years in the medical field, I realized, while rewarding in its own way, I felt like something was missing. My husband and I were on a trip to London when we had a sincere talk about our life goals. I told him I wanted to see my work on a bookshelf, and he encouraged me to make that happen. I ended up quitting my job in summer 2023 and began immediately writing so I could kickstart my self-publishing journey.

What book has been your favorite that you have written so far?
- So far, this most recent novel “If You Fall” is coming up as my favorite novel. The first two novels were fun to write but “If You Fall” proved to be a highly personal experience. The kind of personal experience where I would be sitting at my desk, writing a scene and just randomly crying because one of my characters was undergoing something gut-wrenching. From the death of a family member, trying to balance taking care of a child, the looming reality of an upcoming deployment, the characters are all experiencing emotional hardships that really give the book a unique voice.
Do you have more books planned for the future?
- Yes! “If You Fall” is the first in a planned series. The trilogy is titled “The Night Spartan Series”, meaning at least one of the main characters from the next books will be one of the fighter pilots from the same squadron. I’m anticipating the series will be completed by summer 2028. At least, that’s the goal.
What author inspires you?
- I can’t decide between Susan Lee or Ali Hazelwood, both magnificent romance authors who celebrate unique storylines and fun characters.
What’s a random fact about you we should know?
- When I was younger, I wanted to be a flight attendant. So, in college, I tried to learn multiple languages, primarily Spanish, French and Japanese. I’m not a flight attendant and I can confidently say that my French is non-existent, my Spanish is laughable at best, and my Japanese is the kind that a tourist can comfortably shop and ask where the restroom is.
Anything else you would like to share?
- I hope whoever picks up one of my novels simply has a good time. Whether it serves as an escape from stress, from the realities of work, or loneliness, I hope anyone who takes the time to read any of my novels has a good time.
