I don’t know about your kids, but my kids always seem to be much better behaved when they’re outside enjoying the beautiful summer weather. I have three boys and being trapped inside with them can sometimes be a little bit scary. Furniture will often become a jungle gym and my sanity will fly out the window. So, how can we enjoy the great outdoors and remain somewhat sane as parents? Well never fear I’ve rounded up some great items that will ensure fun for your kiddos and sanity for you!
Sidewalk Chalk - This is a favorite around here. We recently stumbled upon this dustless brand and my kids will play with this for hours! I challenge them to build roads and a city to drive all their favorite cars through! This has given me a few hours of peace and quiet and really gets their creativity flowing! We also like to draw little fires on the patio and give the kids squirt guns or spray bottles to put out the fires! Both of these activities are a lot of fun for all ages!
Ice Cream Ball - This was a more expensive purchase, but we have had a lot of fun making up our own recipes and sharing with friends at outdoor playdates. There are two sizes and we opted to purchase a quart version of the ball to ensure we had plenty of ice cream to share with our friends! This encourages my kids to work together to ensure they get their ice cream nice and solid! They have to roll the ball around for about 40 minutes to get the right consistency!
Bubbles - Everyone loves bubbles! We love giving everyone their own set of bubbles and encouraging them to run around and spread the joy that bubbles always manage to bring to everyone!
Bubble Blasters - I know we’ve all been conned into buying these at our favorite theme parks, but they really do bring hours of fun to my kids. They can have a fun bubble sword fight or even hang out with their favorite characters! These also give mom and dad a break from blowing the bubbles!
Fun Sprinkler - Who doesn’t love a little water fun! This sprinkler is sure to bring joy and fun to your kids on the hot days that are slowly heading our way. The nice thing about sprinklers is that they are safe for all ages and bring me a little less anxiety than the swimming pool can sometimes elicit!
So, grab your favorite cold sweet treat or, if you’re old enough, your favorite cold beverage and head outside! I hope that these bring you a few minutes of peace and a little bit of sanity during these hot summer months!
