Summer Diet Adjustments

When the summer months roll around it’s HOT outside. We live in the south and most days the heat feels like it just won’t let up. The sun is out and blazing in the early hours of the morning. Sometimes it's challenging to find the best time of day to take walks or consume meals. I’m always looking for ways to help my pup cool down and that can take a little creativity. I try to incorporate foods and adjustments to the diet that are healthy and a nice refreshing break from the dry dog food.

I’m so happy I’ve found Merrick products. One of my favorites right now is Merrick Bone Broth. It comes in several flavors such as chicken, beef and turkey. Now my dog loves to chew on everything, so I’ve found soaking veggies such as carrots in Merrick Bone Broth makes my furry friend so happy. These frozen treats are so easy to make! Soak the carrots in bone broth for 24 hours drain and store them in the freezer.

What I love the most are the benefits such as clean teeth, a great coat and these carrots help with digestion.

Another adjustment I like to make is treating my dog to Merrick’s Lil’ Plates. I like to serve it chilled so my dog can cool down after a long walk. Merrick’s Lil’ Plates are made with real ingredients and come in a variety of flavors. Did you know that adding wet foods help to increase your pets' moisture intake? Along with ensuring your pet drinks plenty of water to stay hydrated you can add a variety of wet foods to their diet.

I’ve found freezing bone broth cubes are the perfect delight when we hang out on the backyard patio on warm summer days. I like to chop up and mix in small apple pieces for an extra special touch.

Help your pet cool down this summer by incorporating Merrick products into their diet. Making small adjustments not only helps keep your pet hydrated but it also breaks up the everyday routine of consuming bland dry food.
