Gingerbread Fun!
Posted on December 1, 2024 by Lasonja
It’s December, and my family loves to get their creativity going when we have a battle of the Gingerbread Houses! I’m so excited! This year, though, we are celebrating all things Gingerbread! So, let’s get this Gingerbread party started!
Here are a few ways you can get into the Gingerbread holiday spirit:
- Create Your Own Gingerbread House: The great thing about this activity is that there are some many variations you can try. Even if you don’t eat gingerbread you can build a house with alternative material such as Pop Tarts or Graham Crackers. Even better is that you can pickup the ingredients at your local Commissary.
- Make Your Own Gingerbread House: Make your own gingerbread dough and use cookie cutters to make the perfect shapes to create your own gingerbread house from start to finish!
- Get a Gingerbread House Kit: If you don’t want to make your own pieces, then, you can get a pre-made kit to decorate and put together!
- Read Hansel and Gretel: If you aren’t familiar with this story this is a great time to introduce it to your family. Hopefully, this witch isn’t too scary for your little ones!
- Read The Gingerbread Man: You may be able to run as fast as you can, but you can’t catch him, because he IS the Gingerbread Man!
- Read The Gingerbread Baby: I love Jan Brett’s books! Her pictures and stories are phenomenal! I know you are going to love this book as much as I do!
- Eat Gingerbread: There are so many items out there so give one a try. Here are some of my favorites: Walker’s Shortbread Gingerbread Men, Nonni’s Bakery Gingerbread Biscotti, Pepperidge Farm Gingerman Cookies, Littler Debbie Gingerbread Soft Cookies, and Archway Iced Gingerbread!
- Drink Gingerbread: That’s right! You can get Gingerbread Joy Tea from Twinings!
Random Gingerbread Fun Fact…Did you know that December 12th is National Gingerbread House Day? I had never known about that fun holiday before! However, I know we will be celebrating that day and more during this festive and fun season!
