Gift Ideas for Expecting and New Moms

We’ve all been there, a friend or family member is having a baby shower and you are left stumped on what to get them. I too have been there, especially before I had kids of my own… I was downright CLUELESS! Now that I have had 2 kids of my own I am not so clueless anymore, and decided to  put together a list of 5 thing that I am sure any new mom would love!

Diapers in ALL sizes!

My #1 go to for gifts?? DIAPERS IN ALL SIZES!!! Honestly, I always HATED  running out of diapers and having to go to the store. A stockpile of diapers that I didn’t have to buy, would have been AMAZING!!! Not sure what kind to get?  My number one choice… Huggies! I love the way they hug  my babies bums, come in a variety of fits, are gentle to even the most sensitive of skin and best part…. NO LEAKS!! Not to mention they have cute characters and designs to boot 😉

Plus, you can print Huggies coupons here!

Cleaning Service

Oh man, my house after having a baby was a DISASTER! New moms rarely have their hands free to eat,  shower,  sleep,  yet alone clean the house!  This is one gift I would have LOVED to receive. I know cleaning service can cost a pretty penny but maybe go in on it with other friends or family  for one good deep cleaning, because  who doesn’t love a clean house?!?

Baby Carrier

This was one item that was a Necessity for me!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED  my carriers (maybe to the point of having  a carrier addiction.. I may or may not own more than I need…hehe). I wore my kids ALL THE TIME, they were lifesavers because I had my hands free. When  babies were happy, mommas  happy….that’s a win for any mom!

Gift Cards

You can never go wrong with gift cards! Many times, new moms will register somewhere with many high-priced items they need (i.e. crib, stroller, swing etc.)  and those items can be pricey. My advice?  Find out where mom to be is registered,  grab a gift card so she can put it towards those items she didn’t receive or something she really wants. Not to mention, you can also get gift cards for coffee, their favorite store that carries diapers , favorite restaurants, maybe even a pedicure! You can’t go wrong!

Home Cooked Meals and a Helping Hand

Maybe money is tight, or you want to give a more personal gift, this is a great option! Bring the new mom dinner, offer to do her laundry,  the dishes or vacuum. If she’s comfortable with it offer to watch the baby so she can nap.  Sometimes just being there to help emotionally and physically is a wonderful gift  because reality is sometimes those first few weeks of motherhood, while amazing, can be downright chaotic!

So don’t lose sleep (like the new mom unfortunately will) over what to get the  new mom to be, any of these gifts  are sure to be a hit 🙂
