Have you ever noticed how often you actually use your dependent ID on military installations? I actually never thought much of it until now. I realized that I use my dependent ID more then I use my drivers license. Think about it, you use your dependent ID to go through the gates, shop at ITT, the Exchange, and the Commissary. You also use it at the Naval Hospital and the Pharmacies located all over the base and so much more.

Now, do you still have one of those old pink, blue, or green laminated paper ID’s issued out by the Pass & ID Center? I actually lost mine a long time ago and ended up having to get a new ID card. When I went in and was given my new ID I thought they were giving me the wrong type of ID, it looked way too similar to my CAC. The main difference was instead of being vertical it was horizontal, but it turned out to be the right ID!

That is right, there are now completely new ID’s. These ID’s are like the military members and DOD contractors CAC. Starting in October the old ID’s will no longer be valid and you must have the new ID, if they had expired or if they are going to expire you will need the new ID. That means to shop at your local commissary or exchange, and do so much more on base, you MUST have the new ID.

Has anyone else changed their ID’s yet? Be sure to pass the information along to your friends!
