Bark Madness: Fun Indoor Games for Rainy Days
Posted on March 28, 2025 by Cassi Anderson
I don’t know about you but when I’m stuck inside for a long time I tend to get a little stir crazy! I’m sure that our favorite furry friends feel the same! Below I’ve compiled some of my favorite ways to bust the boredom of those dreary spring days! I hope you and your pup have as much fun as I did coming up with this PAW-some list!
Teach Fido a New Trick
Teach your pup a new trick. Basic obedience skills are so important so now is a great time to brush up on their regular tricks, but also add in a few new ones! My favorite trick I taught one of my dogs was “Bang Bang”. Where I would make that sound and she would fall over! This one is great to show off to friends!
Start a Game of Tug of War
This one may not work for all pets, but if your pet loves to play Tug of War this is a great way to blow off steam even inside! Grab your favorite tug toy and jump on in! 4. Try your hand at an indoor Obstacle Course.
This is a great way to use up some of those Amazon boxes you probably have lying around! Build a tunnel for your pup to go through or even a box to hide treats in! This will have them ready to rest in no time! Get creative and use what you have to give them lots of different obstacles!
Play Hide and Seek
Have your pup sit and stay while you find a good place to hide around the house. Then call their name and wait for them to find you! Make sure you to reward them with a treat after they track you down.
Use Puzzle Toys
My pets really love puzzle treats. These are a great way to get your pet’s mind working when space may be limited. I like to use treat stuffing toys and fill them with peanut butter. I then freeze them for a little bit. This helps to keep your pup busy for a little longer. Make sure you avoid xylitol because this can be deadly for dogs!
Indoor Fetch
This one is pretty straightforward but just grab your pet’s favorite toy and toss
around, space permitting obviously!
Sniffing Games
My dog used to have a little game where we hid a toy squirrel under small cups and she would have to find which cup the squirrel was under. We would play this for longer than I care to admit. You can easily grab some plastic cups and hide a treat or even a piece of dog food. Move the cups around and see how quickly your pet can find the missing treat!
Try a New Pet-Friendly Recipe
The internet has a plethora of fun pet friend recipes. I’ve tried my hand a yogurt treats for my pups and they really enjoy them! This is a great way to add a new treat into some of the other fun enrichment games we mentioned before!
Make Trash into a Toy
Grab a paper towel roll and throw in a few treats. Make sure to fold the ends to give your pup a little challenge. Make plastic water bottles into a treat dispenser when you add in some pet treats or even just their regular dog food. These are both great enrichment activities!
There’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy on this list! Hopefully all this indoor fun will have spring at your doorstep in no time!
