Going Against the Grain: Celebrating Gluten-Free Month with Flavor

May is Gluten-Free Month, and whether you’re living the lifestyle by choice or necessity (like me), it’s the perfect time to celebrate how far gluten-free living has come. Gone are the days of crumbly cardboard bread (for the most part) and sad salads. Today, the gluten-free world is bursting with creative, delicious options—thank goodness—from chickpea pasta to fluffy almond flour pancakes.

Living gluten-free doesn’t mean missing out—it just means thinking outside the (wheat) box. Craving pizza? Cauliflower crust has your back. Want something sweet? There are more gluten-free brownie mixes on shelves than you can count. With so many options in stores, bakeries, and even restaurants, eating gluten-free has never been easier—or tastier.

If you’re new to the lifestyle, this month is a great time to explore. Check out local gluten-free brands, experiment with new flours (hello, coconut, and almond!), or try a dish you never thought you’d make from scratch. You might surprise yourself. However, I tried to make those big fluffy croissants for breakfast…it was a fail.

Let’s not forget the community. Gluten-Free Month is also about connecting with others navigating food sensitivities and sharing recipes, hacks, and support. Post your favorite gluten-free finds, tag your go-to restaurants, or surprise a fellow GF friend with a homemade treat.

Stay tuned on our socials—I’ll be sharing some of my favorite gluten-free locations each week to help you discover new spots and hidden gems!

Not sure where to start exploring the GF lifestyle? Here are a few fun ideas:

  • Host a gluten-free potluck with friends
  • Try a week of gluten-free dinners
  • Visit a dedicated gluten-free bakery or café
  • Share your favorite GF brand or recipe online
