- The Women by Kristin Hannah
- Although not a military affiliated author the amount of research and dedication that Hannah puts into every novel can be felt throughout the pages. This book is no exception as it tells the story of the difficult times that women nurses faced during the Vietnam war. We follow along as Frankie McGrath is overwhelmed by the death and destruction of war. As if war wasn’t hard enough the journey home will prove to be just as difficult as Frankie tries to figure out where she fits in the new divided America.
- To Raise and Discipline an Army: Major General Enoch Crowder, the Judge Advocate General’s Office, and the Realignment of Civil and Military Relations in World War I by Joshua Kastenberg
- This is the perfect book for those who love history! This tells the story of how Major General Enoch Crowder helped to recruit and found the legal arm of the Army by forming the Judge Advocate Generals Office. While Crowder acted as the Judge Advocate General from 1911 to 1923 he was able to expand the Judge Advocate General’s Office from thirteen to over four hundred attorneys. Crowder implemented the Selective Service Act of 1917. This act led to the induction of over 2.8 million men into the armed forces. This all became very instrumental as the US becomes involved in WWI.
