Challenge Accepted – Let’s Focus on Mental Health – Get Ready!

Military life can be tough, and I’m talking about all aspects of it. As a service member, there is always some form of stress in your life whether it’s from work, leadership, or being away on deployment. The same can be said for a military spouse. Being left alone to raise children isn’t something every spouse probably knew they would deal with when they first got married. Even the day to day routine of staying at home and caring for the kids can be exhausting. Let’s not forget being stationed away from family and friends can be mentally draining as well.

What about the military brats? When children are young, moving may seem exciting but the older they get, I can tell you from personal experience, it’s going to get harder. Military children are some of the most resilient human beings however, it’s not always easy starting over and making new friends.

We want to invite you to take part in our Mental Health Challenge. We are going to be bringing you 30 days of activities that will focus on strengthening those physical, social, emotional, and cognitive pillars in your life. We encourage you to get the whole family, and even your close friends involved. The only thing you’ll need is a notebook to document your progress. Then, at the end of your 30 days you can decide which activities you would like to add into your normal routine.

There are many resources available to military members such as Military & Family Life Counselors, known as MFLC’s. You can always reach out to see what resources are available through your installation’s Military & Family Readiness Center, and be sure to check out Military OneSource.

If you are looking for more ways to make improvements in your life; we also encourage you to take part in our Healthy Eating and Sleep Challenge. Be on the lookout for the 30-day calendar coming next!
