Are You in the Giving Spirit? Random Acts of Kindness Day is Coming!

Have you ever done something nice for someone? Sometimes an expected gesture can make someone’s day. You may be surprised to know that there is a whole day dedicated to performing random acts of kindness. In fact in 1995, The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation deemed February 17th as a day to be celebrated annually to perform kind acts. These acts can be done for strangers or your family and friends. There are so many different things you can do and let’s be honest we could all use a little compassion these days. Check out the examples below and encourage those around you to participate as well.

Donations

  • Donate items to a shelter (clothes, books, toys, or hygiene products)
  • Volunteer your time (animal shelter, shelter, or food bank)
  • Monetary donations (leave money at a vending machine, leave extra coupons at the grocery store, etc.)

Generosity

  • Pay it forward (pay for a stranger’s coffee or meal)
  • Help a senior citizen (offer to carry groceries or perform lawn care)

Connections

  • Express appreciation (leave a thank you note or write a positive online review)
  • Reconnect (call an old friend, family member, or coworker)

Simple Acts

  • Compliment someone
  • Hold the door for the person behind you
  • Say good morning/smile
  • Give praise to someone doing a good job

How many acts can you come up with? Just remember, acts of kindness don’t have to stop on February 17th. Consider incorporating some of these gestures into your daily or weekly routine. You may just brighten up someone’s day or vice versa.
