Words of Wisdom for the New Milspouse
Posted on May 2, 2025 by Jenn D
Our team is blessed to have many amazing military spouses, ranging from newer spouses to our well-seasoned spouses! This team is full of love and support for all milspouses and we wanted to share some of our wisdom with new milspouses!
Advice from Our Milspouse Team Members:
- Amanda – I would say to be flexible. Life is always changing and you have to learn to adapt. Also, enjoy where you are. Make the most of it with you and your family
- Cassi – Bloom where you’re planted. Not every duty station is your favorite location but you need to try and make the most of it, otherwise you’ll be miserable. I can honestly say I’ve met life long friends at every base we’ve been at.
- Jenn – Welcome to the tribe! We are so happy you are here with us! This adventure will be a lot like a roller coaster, with many ups and downs, but strap in and be ready for anything! Also, your mindset will play an important part in this journey, so while there will be many challenges along the way, there are so many great opportunities and memories that will be made as well! Hugs for support and please know, we are here for you!
- Kalina – Remember, you’re not alone! Embrace the incredible strength of our community. We’re all here to lift each other up, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re facing challenges. Many of us have walked a similar path, and together, we can support one another through tough times.
- Kristyn – Pick your battles. This lifestyle can be stressful at times and you will get into disagreements throughout you relationship- especially the days leading up to deployments or work trips. Focus your energy and time on the important issues and don’t get bogged down by trivial disagreements.
- Talysa – Make sure you’ve got something that’s just for you. Whether it’s going back to school, picking up a job, volunteering, or diving into a hobby—having something outside of your role as a spouse makes a huge difference. Military life can be a wild ride, so it’s important to stay connected to your own goals and passions. You deserve to grow right alongside your service member.
We are here as a resource for you and we hope you have gotten some new insight about this journey you are on as a new milspouse! Welcome to our tribe! We are so glad you are here!
