April is the Month of the Military Child, the perfect time to celebrate our special little troopers. Military life is hard, but it can be significantly harder for children. Here are great ways to Celebrate!

Yes Day

Have a yes day; let your kids dictate what they do for the day…within reason. My kids love this yearly tradition. We pick one day in April, and all bets are off! It gives them a bit of control because, let’s be real, we live a lifestyle with no control.

Grab Them Some Books Geared Towards Military Children

There are not many books geared toward military life for kids. I was able to interview these great authors who wrote I Move A Lot,and That’s Okay and It’s Time To Say Goodbye, both great books to have for your military kids! The podcasts also gives great insight to the books and more on military life pertaining to the kids.

Check out Local Events At Your Base For The Kids

Your local MWR may have some events throughout the base throughout the year, specifically for kids during April! Definitely worth a look! Even if they don’t have events they will have awesome rentals and activities that would make for a fun-filled family day out 🙂

Talk To Them

Open communication is key. Military life is confusing and scary for us adults, so it’s important to talk with your kids about the changes in life. It is also important that you let them know how important and special they are they are within the military family system. They matter and have a voice and its important to let that matter.
